The Humane Society wanted a calendar created that would showcase animals that were up for adoption, that would inclued a quote or fact about the animal pictured or adoption, and that would also include coupons for animal products (toys, scratching posts, bedding, food, etc) at the top or the bottom of the calendar. They wanted to go a step forward, though, and include animals that didn't exactly fit the norm. I chose to do the months February, June, October, and December. The picture shown at the right is the February excerpt. I used a photo of a Spynx cat (which happens to be my favorite breed of cat) with hearts around it in honor of Saint Valentine's Day. I thought it was very festive, colorful, and welcoming.
The Sawdust Festival requested a flyer to advertise for the 2011 festival that was being held. I chose to do a simple black outline for the flyer and to make a bright center piece to draw the eye in. Since it was an festival of the arts, I created a butterfly silhouette and filled it with a graffiti type graphic design. I used a paint palette for the bullets of the festival information. I felt that it added to the theme, kept things simple, and looked nice.
This is the menu that I created for the Hollywood Sandwich Company. They are a gourmet sandwich restaurant that has a Hollywood/celebrity theme. Every week they feature a special dish that is modeled after a famous celebrity, and requested an area be left on their menu for that. For the front menu I used stars as frames for three famous celebrities. The stars were a nice touch, and added to the theme (the Walk of Fame in Hollywood). I featured Fred Astaire, Marilyn Monroe, and Clark Gable on the front, because they also had sandwiches or desserts named after them within the menu. For the special, I got a picture of a vintage themed showboard to put the special "in lights." An old timey film strip was used as the border for the top and bottom of the menu.
